Study Results Show Brain Training Improves IQ Scores and Core Cognitive Skills

Indianapolis Student’s IQ Scores Improved by One-On- One Brain Training


For years, researchers have tried to quantify the success statistics of brain training programs. Now, a first of its kind study published in The Journal of Applied Cognitive Psychology has found a one-on- one cognitive training program improved cognitive skills and IQ scores by 21 points in students ages 8 to 14.



The ThinkRx® training program, created by leading researchers and experts at LearningRx, significantly improved an average IQ and seven cognitive skills: associative memory, working memory, long-term memory, visual, processing, auditory processing, logic and reasoning and processing speed.


Historically, brain training research had only looked at improvements in working memory. This new randomized controlled trial reflects how a comprehensive program that focuses on all seven core cognitive abilities can ultimately improve cognitive skills and overall performance – an area researchers and the medical community are continuing to build upon current knowledge from more than 20 years of observational studies.



The results are part of a larger, year-long study which will collect follow-up cognitive testing and academic achievement data to evaluate the longer-term effects of brain training.
